About Us

Victoria, BC, Canada
This blog began as a modern "baby book" for our first child, Finlay, who was born in December of 2010. The recent addition of Seamus, born in January of 2013, has meant continued efforts to put into words and pictures his early years. We also use this forum to catalog our family life: two loving partners, two beautiful kids, car-free, child-centred, attachment-focused, with a love of food and health thrown into the mix!

Spring or Summer

April 20, 2015

It was hot this weekend.  In the garden, it looked like Spring but it felt like summer.  The kids stripped down and played in the outdoor tub and ran through the sprinkler.

We went for a walk and Shay fell asleep, so I just set him up in the shade and left him in the yard.  There won't be many more times we can do this!

We went shopping and got some new summer clothes.  Fin is modelling a new outfit he picked out.

You can't see it here - but the dress really makes his eyes pop.  And, the hat doubles as a play-pretend prop for his magic shows!

Easter 2015

April 3-6, 2015

We went to Mayne Island for Easter Weekend.  It was lovely!  Pictures below!

Gramma and Finlay played a lot of games.

Everyone was relaxed and happy.

Deep in thought - there is something about being in the woods.

The kids played outside for hours.

The property had a trail into the forest.

Shay wanted a turn on the swing.

Here is the cabin - it was perfect for us!  Felt like home.

The kids found a tree house!

And there were a lot of sticks to play with.

There was a ladder that Shay climbed all by himself!

Good times!

Hi Shay-Shay!

Wood-burning stove needed some fuel.

There were plenty of toys.

A huge playhouse with a pop-up kitchen.

Local park with Gramma.

Shay just loves the swings!

There was an orchard - Fin is hiding in the grass somewhere.

The Easter Bunny came!  They ate the carrot we left out!

Fin was very excited!

Shay found a lot of eggs!

Are they under the table?

"Eggie!"

"My twuck!" - from his Easter basket.

We went for a walk to the beach.

Just a few minutes down a quiet street...

and here we are!

Shay was immediately throwing rocks.

Fin and I looked for shells.

There were plenty of tidal pool to play in - lots of little crabs to hold.

Shay threw rocks for 45 minutes.

The sand was not fine.

There were lots of little islands and a nice view of Mt.Baker.

A place to hide.

"Mama, Shay-shay gonna trow da wock in that oh-sin!"

A nice escape from the city.
