About Us

Victoria, BC, Canada
This blog began as a modern "baby book" for our first child, Finlay, who was born in December of 2010. The recent addition of Seamus, born in January of 2013, has meant continued efforts to put into words and pictures his early years. We also use this forum to catalog our family life: two loving partners, two beautiful kids, car-free, child-centred, attachment-focused, with a love of food and health thrown into the mix!

Welcome Finlay McKinnon Grant!

Hi folks!

We are super excited to let everyone know that on Dec 14th at 11:17pm  we welcomed Finlay into the world.  We had a lot of help from our primary midwife Uta Harold as well as a new midwife to Canada that joined us later on in the process named Sara. She has been a midwife in the UK for a long time but is transferring to practice in Canada and our Doula named Tanesha.  I take the time to mention them because they were so amazing and supportive in our goals for the birth,  But we will put up more detailed information in the near future but for now we wanted to let you know that mum, dad and baby are happy and healthy and we are just spending a few days hanging out in bed together getting to know each other.

Finlay came in weighing 9lbs 4 ounces, is 22.2 inches long (with 3 inch long feet!) and is 100% cute!

We've posted some of the pics we have on the blog.  As we find time to take more we will add them up or find a way to get them to you.   In the mean time send your good thoughts our way as we get used to our new lives as a family.

Lots of love

Tyler, Lyndze and Finlay  (a.k.a Chick)

After a good amount of snuggle time with Mom and Dad; Finlay was off to get his stats done.

Here is Uta, our midwife, measuring Finlay.  22.5 inches long

Finlay's had some large feet.

Here is Uta weighing Finlay... Although you cannot see him, he is indeed snuggled inside that bag.

This is Fin on his first day alone with mom and dad... Too cute

 Finlay getting all tidied up!

Just about to get weighed...

Fin was known for being quite the kicker when he called Mom's tummy his home... As you can see from the swaddle blanket looks like, nothing much has changed...
Fin getting re-swaddled after the measurements...

This is a picture of our bedroom... We were lucky enough to do the entire labour in the house and most of it took place in this cozy little place. It really was a nice experience for all of us.
